Finding the balance between media freedom and journalistic ethics

After recent censorship of private-owned radio stations in Cameroon, a debate was organised on the issues of freedom, law and ethics, among journalists, academics, a politician and a government official.
Albert Mbida, a representative of the Ministery of Communication, complained that "ethics were offended and thrown in the dustbin of the Ministry." Defamation, false news, slander and intimidation among colleagues are the main troubles which undermine media in Cameroon, he said, citing the (...)
