The award is dedicated to drawing attention to health issues that have a global impact, honoring those who have in the prior year most effectively captured the essence of a major issue in global health and conveyed it to a broad audience.
Entries may be made by any individual or organisation from material appearing in print or electronic media. Eligible works must have been published or aired between 28 February, 2002, and 28 February, 2003.
The winner will be invited to attend the Global Health Council’s annual conference to be held in the United States in Washington, DC from 27 to 30 May, 2003.
The award is given for a distinguished example of reporting on global health issues.
