East African media and conservation professionals have until January 2003 to nominate outstanding regional environmental journalists for the second annual Peter Jenkins Journalism Awards.
The awards, the richest environmental reporting awards in East Africa, are intended to honour exemplary journalists, broadcasters, publishers and filmmakers working in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The overall winner will receive 5,000 pounds (about 7,833 US dollars) cash, while the first runner-up will receive 3,000 pounds (about 4,700 US dollars) and the second runner-up will receive 2,000 pounds (about 3,133 US dollars).
The award is named for the environmentalist Peter Jenkins, who pioneered wildlife conservation in Kenya.
