The year 2010 will mark the first time in its 19-year history that the FIFA World Cup tournament will be hosted by an African nation. In preparation for this historic sporting event, African photo/multimedia journalists are invited to participate in “The Twenty Ten Project,” an international training program that will take place in the months just prior to, and also during, the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Twenty Ten Project
The Twenty Ten Project is for professional journalists of African nationality whom are currently living in Africa. It is a multidisciplinary media project, that focuses on strengthening African journalists from the various disciplines, and aims to encourage media professionals to creatively produce and distribute articles, images, broadcasts and multimedia productions related to African football.
The Twenty Ten “Dream Team”
The Twenty Ten “All Stars” are 108 journalists from disciplines ranging from radio and broadcast to photo and print, and together they represent 35 different African countries. Currently enrolled in the Twenty Ten training program, these journalists will complete the program at the end of 2009, and several will be selected to join the Twenty Ten “Dream Team,” which will travel to South Africa from June to July 2010.
The Twenty Ten project is currently seeking photo/multimedia journalists with an interest in multimedia to sign up for the multimedia training program, and the chance to become a member of the Twenty Ten Dream Team. The training program will focus specifically on photographers with multimedia experience, as well as already practicing multimedia journalists.
