Journalists from Africa are invited to attend a three-week professional development course on transitional justice from 2 to 20 November in Cape Town, South Africa. The deadline to apply is 10 August.
Transitional justice addresses the approaches that a country may use to deal with past human rights violations. Participants will receive a rigorous theoretical introduction to the field, coupled with case studies from across Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. A certificate in transitional justice will be presented upon course completion.
Full and partial scholarships are available for the course; the cost otherwise is US$7500 for travel, lodging, course materials and living expenses.
Twenty-five participants will be selected and notified by September.
