Young journalists (no older than 35) in member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are invited to attend a training course on freedom and responsibility in the media, to be held in Accra, Ghana from 27 September to 10 October. The deadline to apply is 24 July.
The course will aim to examine the interdependence between quality and ethics in journalism, and will seek to empower journalists to make ethical decisions even under difficult circumstances.
Young journalists from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo are eligible to apply. Applicants should have a minimum of two years of professional experience.
The program is jointly organized by the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ), Germany and the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra. Accommodation costs and daily allowances to cover meals will be covered, within the limits of pertinent regulations, by IIJ, of global training and capacity building organization InWEnt.
