Journalists interested in human rights and humanitarian affairs can participate in a course on impartiality and accuracy in monitoring and reporting human rights abuses. The deadline is 29 June.
The course will take place from 13 July to 27 November. It is organized by Fahamu, a human rights and social justice advocacy organization in conjunction with the University of Oxford. The course is structured in two parts: the introductory course will teach participants how to plan and conduct impartial human rights abuse research. The second part of the course will concentrate on the necessary reporting and monitoring skills in tracking human rights issues.
Although a fee is required to participate in the course, Fahamu provides all course material. The courses are offered by distance learning but are also available as residential face-to-face courses on request. Residential programs will take place in Nairobi, Kenya; Cape Town, South Africa; or Dakar, Senegal.
