Africa The Good News is a new online publication, going live in early 2009, that will offer a fresh perspective of the continent. It will present Africa positively, without ignoring the challenges and it will position Africa as a continent of hope and opportunity.

Africa The Good News is looking for an editor for this publication based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Key Performance Areas:
  Manage editorial strategy, identifying opportunities and managing editorial projects with freelance contributors.
  Manage in-house journalist and identify and manage freelance journalists and columnists around the continent.
  Publish daily articles.
  Produce weekly newsletters for subscribers.
  Drive traffic to the website.
  Identify and develop commercial opportunities of the website.
  Network with key players in African media

Requirements:
  Qualifications and experience:
  Honours Degree in Journalism/Politics/Economics
  At least five years experience in writing and editing, preferably in a newspaper, magazine or online environment.
  Deep knowledge and understanding of Africa and current affairs
  A network of excellent contacts and thought leaders in the continent
  Excellent command of English
