The international media development organization Internews has announced the 30 winners of the Every Human Has Rights Media Awards, and is asking the public to vote on the most-eye opening report.
The awards were organized this year to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Among the 30 winners, a special award of US$1,560 will be given to the top report.
The winners, whose stories explicitly refer to the human rights enshrined in the declaration, will be attending the campaign celebration in Paris on 6 December, where they will receive a prize for their contribution. They will also get to meet human rights leaders, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, chair of The Elders, a group of world leaders that tackles some of the world’s biggest problems and is an avid supporter of the Every Human Has Rights campaign.
