Eastern African women who have a bachelor’s degree in mass communication or other related arts and sciences areas are eligible to apply to a nine-month internship programme, offered by the Eastern African Sub-regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI). The deadline is 13 February.
Running from 1 April to 15 December 2009, in Kampala, Uganda, the programme aims to improve women’s skills in leadership, advocacy, writing, research, and Web site maintenance, among others. Interns are expected to produce a research report on an area of their choice linked to EASSI’s work.
The internship is open to women between the ages of 20 and 35 who are citizens of Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, or Uganda. Fluency in English is a requirement. French and Kiswahili are desirable but not essential.
The programme will select four participants, who will receive accommodation and a monthly stipend.
