A three-year fellowship programme on African development journalism is underway at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). The new program is funded by a $2million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
A central goal of the program will be to increase coverage and access to information in rural areas across Africa. ICFJ will place professional Knight International Journalism Fellows and Health Journalism Fellows in Africa to help media houses build off of current capacities that often constrain local journalists to major cities.
