The Youth Media & Communication Initiative (YMCI) in conjunction with the British Council and the National Film & Video Censors Board (NFVCB) is hosting the first Africa Media Literacy Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, from 30 to 31 July. The conference will explore the roles of young people, their needs and realities in light of today’s rapidly changing communication technologies.
Prominent local and international media practitioners will present new approaches and perspectives to create fertile grounds for sustainable media education in Africa. The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) will be preparing the background paper for the conference on media literacy and the democratic dividend.
