Each day, the front pages of over 450 newspapers worldwide appear online in the Newseum, an interactive museum of news. As the site’s database “Today’s Front Pages” continues to grow, newspapers from across the globe are invited to submit their daily covers.
While many papers from across the globe contribute to the online museum, Africa remains the least represented with only two publications. “In order to achieve a diverse and balanced representation of news coverage from countries around the world, we have found it necessary to limit the number of newspapers we display from any one country on a given day,” the Newseum website explains. “However, we encourage new contributions from newspapers in underrepresented geographic areas.”
To contribute, newspapers must have the capability of transmitting their front pages electronically in the required format. Newspapers able to upgrade their technology can be included in the exhibit. For information on the technology required for participation or further questions on how to contribute, contact frontpages@newseum.org.
The front pages will also appear in a museum set to open this year in Washington, DC, USA.
