Offered through the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), the Clive Menell Fellowship offers two mid-career South African journalists with the opportunity to participate in a four-week programme of discussion and study on international media issues. The programme allows mid-career journalists to share experiences and develop relationships for sustained professional networking.
The two candidates to receive the fellowship join colleagues from major print and broadcast media around the world at Duke University’s DeWitt Wallace Centre for Communication and Journalism during February/March and October/November of each year.
The programme includes a series of seminars designed to address the most important policy issues on media agenda in the coming years. Led by prominent journalists, scholars and key policy makers, the discussions focus on issues including journalism and media, public policy, economics, international relations, environmental affairs and new media technologies.
Deadlines for the applications are August for October/November Fellowships and January for March/April Fellowships.
