Media practitioners and organizations in Nigeria are now invited to enter their work in the Consultative Media Group (CMG) 2007 Media Awards. The CMG, an alliance of media stakeholders, will give the awards to entries of outstanding coverage of the electoral process under two broad categories: coverage of women’s electoral rights and outstanding coverage of youth activities that contribute towards building a civic culture of non violent elections.
The awards will seek to encourage excellence and accuracy in electronic and print coverage of these issues in the period leading up to the 2007 elections and beyond. The awards will be presented for coverage published or broadcast in Nigeria between 1 July 2006 and 31 May 2007.
Entries must be programs and articles that promote positive public attitudes towards women’s electoral rights and their participation in the electoral process or to reports and programs that contribute towards building a culture of constructive, non-violent involvement by youth in civic activities.
