Organized by The Media magazine and sponsored by Vodacom, a cellular communications provider in South Africa, the Women in Media Awards seeks to honor South Africa’s best female journalists.

The contest consists of three prize categories: the “Women in the Media Award,” honoring the most active and effective journalist of the year; the “Rising Star Award,” awarded to journalists under 30 years-old who have made significant contributions to the field; and the “Lifetime Achiever Award” presented to a journalist demonstrating excellence over the course of her career.

All female journalists in South Africa are eligible to apply. Submissions should include a CV, contact details, and a letter describing the applicant’s most outstanding achievements in the past twelve months. The application deadline is 11 May.
