New Senegalese weekly has high hopes for success
On 6 December 2005, a new weekly hit newsstands in Senegal. “L’Espoir” (Hope) is a twelve page publication, sold at 200 CFA francs (approx 0.36 USD). A number of well known journalists have joined the editorial team of “L’Espoir”: Abdou Salam Kane, publisher, Ibrahima Mansour Mboup, editor in chief, and El hadji Amadou Mbaye assistant editor in chief. According to an editorial written by Bara Diouf, political editor of the weekly, the newspaper hopes to show that Senegal is a ‘land of hope, honour and dignity’. Mr Diouf is former director general of Senegal’s largest daily, the government-owned “Le Soleil”. The new weekly will appear on Tuesdays.
