TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Fully funded training in elections coverage

Journalists from across Africa can apply for a fully funded training programme on election reporting, offered by the Reuters Foundation. The course will take place from 26 to 30 September in Nairobi, Kenya.

Applicants should work for local news media and have at least two years of experience. The workshop aims to guide reporters and editors through the whole electoral process, from voter registration to announcing the results.

My name is Evelyn and am a line producer with development through media a non profit making media organisation. i have great interest in elections since am currently working on a programme called gender and governace which helps to train women on issues of governance. By learning more on how to cover elections, it will help me in providing alternative channel for women in politics or who are preparing to campaign since the mainstream media does not give them level coverage as their male counterparts. We have already produced a documentary called Election Victory for women candidates and this training and the knowledge i gain with supplement our efferts at DTM of helping women politicians.
