African print media are encouraged to submit entries for the The Bastiat Prize for Journalism, which carries a total cash reward of US$10,000. The prize, hosted by the London-based free market think tank International Policy Network (IPN), recognises media whose work promotes the institutions of a free society free speech, property rights, the rule of law, free markets and sound science. The winner will receive US$6,000 and the first runner up will receive US$4,000. Prize entries are judged according to the intellectual content, the persuasiveness of the language used and the type of publication in which they appeared. Up to three articles may be submitted but must not exceed 4,500 words in total. All articles must be published in English, and should have been published between 1 July 2004 and 30 June 2005.
