African journalists eligible for annual journalism prize

Print and online journalists are invited to apply for the 2004 Lorenzo Natali Prize for Journalism, which recognizes reporting that promotes human rights and democracy as key elements of economic development.

The prize is named after the late vice president of the European Commission. One journalist from each continent is eligible for the award. Each winner will receive a 10,000 prize and a trophy at a special ceremony in Brussels, Belgium in December 2004.

Entries should focus on human rights or democracy in the developing world. Submissions must have been published between January 1 and December 31, 2003.

Deadline: 31 October, 2004
