Kenyan investigative journalist Ken Opala is this year’s recipient of the Natali Prize, which is awarded by the International Federation of Journalists and the European Commission. Opala received the prize for a series of articles in the "Daily Nation" newspaper, reporting on the lives of death row convicts. He is also the winner of the regional Natali prize for Africa. The Natali Prize recognises excellence in reporting on human rights, democracy and development. Opala was honoured at a ceremony held at the International Press Centre Rsidence Palace, in Brussels on 24 October. A cash reward of 10,000 Euro accompanies the prize.
